Counseling is a process where clients are helped in dealing with their personal and inter personal conflicts by a third-party therapist. It allows an individual to have an opportunity to improve upon their understanding of themselves, including their pattern of thoughts, behaviours , feelings and the ways in which these may have been problematic in their lives. It also helps to examine how to tap into existing resources or develop new ones that enhance their lives and relationships.

COUNSELLING helps their clients in a variety of ways, depending upon the type of counseling they need. Few of the types of counseling are as follows:

Individual Counselling

Individual counseling is a one on one counseling process of a patient by us , where the patient seeks to achieve certain goals. It is mainly a process of self-discovery and overcoming your problems, where a person works out his/her issues under the guidance of an expert. Individual counseling is popular because it provides the setting for a patient to talk openly about his/her problems and disclose his/her feelings, without fear of being judged. Individual counseling helps patients explore themselves better and work out their issues, and basically discuss issues which they may not be comfortable discussing with others and we also make sure that such comfort level is set by us for the patient to open up easily to us.

Pre-marital Counselling

Pre-marital counseling is a great way to help couples prepare for their marriage. It helps you and your spouse enjoy a strong, healthy relationship and offers you a better chance towards a satisfying and lifelong marriage. It helps you in the overall readiness for marriage and prepares you for an amazing married life ahead.

In order to obtain great pre-marriage advice and tips, it is important that you find a counselor whom you can trust, and who honors your unique situation. New models and methods of pre-marriage counseling are emerging everyday encouraging both the bride and the groom to develop strong, healthy relationships before their marriage. It teaches the couple necessary skills to build a strong, conscious foundation for their marriage. With commitment, trust, and the willingness to work towards a great marriage, you can enjoy a relationship you always desired.

Marriage Counselling

Many couples assume that marriage is the final step in a relationship. They take each other for granted, routine sets in, and the romance goes out of the window.

Counselling after marriage has many advantages. Counselling addresses issues that were unforeseen and tend to pop-up after marriage. Minor differences can be discussed before they become major obstacles. Each partner thinks that he or she is right and seldom acknowledge their own faults. This stand-off leads to further tension. What is then needed is the intervention of a counsellor who is obviously qualified, neutral and experienced.

Child Counselling

While many of us can seek support from friends and family, it’s not always possible. Even as adults, it can be scary to ask for help, especially for our own mental health. So, consider how tough it can be for a child. A child experiencing a mental health problem, or experiencing something they don’t understand; how can they possibly know where to turn.

The first thing to do is not jump to conclusions. Depending on their age, they may be talking to friends about how they feel. They may be talking to their teacher, or another person of authority at school. It’s not easy, but don’t be offended if they aren’t opening up to you - sometimes it can be more tough for them to talk to a parent, than another adult.

If their behaviour has changed, consider what’s happening in their life - is there anything that may have triggered their distress? Situations like moving house, divorce, bullying and bereavement can affect a child greatly, and stress can build when they don’t know how to cope. If you’re worried about your child and things seem to be affecting their health, it may be time to consider further help.

How child counselling is different

Counselling gives the child the opportunity to talk about how they feel without the fear of judgement. Speaking to a counsellor, away from their home and school life, can take away some of the pressure. Counselling offers a safe environment for children to express their feelings and understand what may have caused them to feel this way.

The methods used in sessions will depend on the child’s age, situation and their development. There are a number of methods that may be used to encourage children to express their feelings better, such as through play and art. Reading stories and talking about the feelings of a specific character can help them understand the emotion and, in turn, encourage them to discuss their own feelings, while drawing, painting or drama can help the child express themselves better.

Older children may prefer talking therapy, or a mixture of both. This is down to the child and the counsellor, who will discuss the situation together to learn what method will be most beneficial. Although different methods may be used for child counselling, the aim of counselling for both children and adults is the same; to help the individual cope better with their feelings and to enjoy life again.

Benefits of child counselling

A few examples of how counselling can help children include; coping with everyday worries, such as exam stress, and relationship issues with friends, family members and teachers. Counselling can also help with self-harm concerns, grief, depression and anxiety, and learning difficulties, to name a few.

Really, if something is making your child unhappy, however small you or they feel it is, it’s important. Know that help is available - counselling allows your child to talk to someone about what’s on their mind safely and confidently, without fear of judgement.

There is no right or wrong reason to why someone may consider counselling. Sometimes it’s just good to talk to someone objective, other times more guidance may be needed.

SEPERATION COUNSELLING

Counselling programs can help people who are separating and/or divorcing, to deal with their grief and anger, so they can move forward with a sense of purpose and plans for the future. Counselling may help you to:

=>Look at the changing nature of your relationship
=>Manage the grief and loss associated with a relationship breakdown
=>Assess the real value of anger
=>Identify a pathway for the separation
=>Learn about acceptance and ways to attain it
=>Learn to be single again
=>Gain the strength to consider a new and sustaining relationship.

In reality, many people live happy, fulfilled lives following a relationship breakdown. Some people choose to re-partner and many do not.

Counselling and working through the problems of separation with someone who has no personal involvement can help people through this difficult time.

FAMILY COUNSELLING

If you’re having problems as a family, whatever’s causing them, Family Counselling can help the whole family to communicate better, and to understand and resolve differences.

When families go through change, it can be difficult to learn to adapt. Counselling can help family members to support one another through these difficult times, to reduce conflict and arguments and grow stronger as a result.

COUPLE COUNSELLING

A romantic relationship is one of the closest we have as humans. Choosing a partner and staying together through life's twists and turns is rarely simple. When we choose to get married and raise a family together, unsurprisingly this only adds to the complexity.

Whether you have the odd tiff, full-blown arguments or you have simply stopped having fun - very few relationships exist conflict-free. When this (one of our most important relationships) begins to falter, our health and happiness often suffers. While for many of us our first instinct is to try and work through problems alone, it can be incredibly useful to seek outside help.

One route you may choose to go down is couples counselling - a form of talk therapy designed for those in a relationship. Relationship Counselling can helpa couple to:

=>Understand the relationship they all currently share and how they feel about each other
=>Rediscover why they were attracted in the first place
=>Find out what they want from their relationship and from each other
=>Consider how both parties contribute to the current relationship
=>Identify what they are prepared to do to make the relationship work.

SPIRITUAL COUNSELLING

The core goal of spiritual counselling or guidance is to assist people in ‘re-connecting with their authentic spirituality and inherent wholeness as the means for transforming obstacles and living a more meaningful life. It is to help people discover that beyond their problems and beyond their conditioning they already have the answers and the wisdom within them. We hold this vision of wholeness for them; this helps them to connect with a deeper ‘Self’, and to enter into a deeper experience of and relationship to the Divine, until such time as they can once again create that space and realise that vision for themselves.
